NSEAC - participants

NSEAC is a Comenius bilateral school partnership, part of the Lifelong Learning Programme, starting on January 1st 2014, ending on July 31th 2015. The two partners participating are Stangnes videregående skole and Escola Massana.

Stangnes videregående skole, Harstad, Norway

Stangnes videregående skole (Stangnes upper secondary school) is run by Troms county administration. It is located at Stangnes in Harstad. The school was built in 1978, but has traditions back to the vocational school of southern Troms, which was established in 1952, as well as to priv
ate and public trade schools dating back to 1905. Today, Stangnes upper secondary school supplies education to approximately 615 students and 95 teachers work here.
Stangnes upper secondary school offers a total of eight different educational programmes, seven of which are vocational, whereas one provides students with a specialization in general studies. The vocational education programmes commence with two years in school, may be followed by an apprenticeship period (two years) and offer the optional supplementary programme for general university admissions certification (one year).

Specialization in general studies with arts, crafts and design, is a three year educational programme. Stangnes upper secondary school has this educational option at all three levels. In addition to acquiring knowledge within general studies, which is the admission ticket to further education at college and university level, the students also gain a unique competence within the field of arts, design and architecture.

Escola Massana, Barcelona, Spain

Escola Massana is Barcelona’s Municipal Art and Design Centre. It is located in the centre of the town, in the Raval neighbourhood, and opened its doors as an academic institution on 14 January 1929: 84 years of History, 4 study plans, 1400 students and 120 teachers.

Escola Massana’s educational programme encompasses three conceptual areas (visual arts, applied arts and design) for three educational levels: Secondary Education (Artistic Baccalaureate), Further Education (Advanced vocational training programmes and a university degree in Art and Design) and Continuous Training (beginners and specialist courses).

The Secondary Education course in Arts involves two post-compulsory years of basic training for students aged 16 to 18. The aim is to give basic art and design knowledge to students interested in further education in these fields: an advanced vocational training programme and/or a university degree.
