From North to
South: Ephemeral Art as a means of Communication
NSEAC is a Comenius bilateral school
partnership, part of the Lifelong Learning Programme, starting on January 1st
2014, ending on July 31th 2015. The two partners participating are Stangnes
videregående skole and Escola Massana.
Project
description
This project intends to
increase awareness of European linguistic and cultural diversity through
actually encountering it. Additionally, the mobility will contribute in
challenging students’ stereotypes and promote the attitude that they share an
invaluable common ground.

English will function as the means of communication throughout the project. Students will use English in developing all educational projects. Therefore, students will not only improve their level of language competence, they will also learn to develop multilingual interests and attitudes.
The students will learn basic, every
day words and expressions in Norwegian and Catalan respectively. These
languages will function as target languages and students will be given the
opportunity to learn and practice their “new” language both prior to and during
the mobility. Learning technical expressions in relation to the workshops will
be given much emphasis.
The project consist on sharing an
aesthetic experience involving students in two different mixed workshops, to
carry out ephemeral artistic products, with an ecological perspective related
to their own natural and cultural environment. In Harstad they will carry out
snow sculptures in an open public park; in Barcelona they will make kites by
reeds inspired by Gaudi natural forms.
While both workshops are in progress, the
students will do a photo and video report that will result in two exhibitions,
one in each town.
The exchange of information between
the students will be done through a common blog designed and managed by the
teachers of both schools: it is going to be used before the mobility, between
workshops; and at the end of the project.
